St. Margaret’s welcomed more than 450 loved ones to campus on a joyful morning full of love and celebration last week, as students performed songs, shared their Tartan experience and spent quality time with special people during the Lower School’s annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day.

 

The day serves as an opportunity for loved ones to see St. Margaret’s and the Lower School first-hand and for students to share their everyday experience at St. Margaret’s.

 

The theme was “It’s a Small World” and was reflected in the remarks, readings and music that made up the morning program. Families enjoyed breakfast followed by a Chapel service and student program in Pasternack Field House. The program featured many Lower School students reading prayers, offering reflections, and performing songs ranging from “Count on Me,” “What a Wonderful World,” “Big Yellow Taxi,” “One Call Away,” Baba Yetu” and “Dragon Dance.” The grades 4 and 5 orchestra also performed two songs, and all of the Lower School came together to sing “We Are the World” to conclude the music.

 

There were also remarks by Head of School Dr. Jeneen Graham and Lower School Principal Jennifer Blount.

 

Afterward, guests visited their student’s classroom to meet teachers and friends and view some of the works students completed this school year.

 

The event was organized by Lower School professional community, chaplains and the Advancement Office, with help from many parent volunteers. St. Margaret’s would like to thank the grandparents and special friends for your love and support, and to everyone who helped make the event so special.
