Tartan Girls Tennis and Golf Teams Start Seasons With Wins

St. Margaret's begins the 2024 campaigns on the right foot.
St. Margaret's girls tennis and golf programs opened the 2024 season with wins this week, battling challenging weather and opponents.

The Tartans took on non-league foe Estancia High School on Tuesday afternoon, coming away with a 16-2 road win.
 
Despite elevated temperatures, St. Margaret's singles players Rylee Carlson and Emily Kim won all three of their sets, while Angela Liu picked up wins in the two sets she competed in. The doubles squads of Caitlin Roberts/Ellie Pooler and Fiona Bonilla Duncan/Emily Guerinot put the Tartans over the top, winning all sets.
 
St. Margaret's is back in action facing Westminster on the road on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 3:30 pm.

St. Margaret's defeated Glendora High School 206-262 on Tuesday at Glendora Country Club in the Tartan's first official match of the season.
 
Annie Weng had a strong finish, shooting a stellar 35 (-1) with birdies on holes 7 and 8. Nicole Wang birdied holes 2 and 6 and finished with the match's second-lowest score, a 40 (+4). Madison Lewis notched a 41 (+5) with 5 pars on the day (holes 2, 5, 6, 7 and 9).
 
The Tartans will see Glendora again this afternoon, competing at San Juan Hills Golf Course at 3:00 pm.
