Tartan Girls Tennis Notch Important League Victories

The Tartans improved their league record this week.
St. Margaret's girls tennis team improved to 2-3 in league play with big wins over Irvine and Rosary High Schools this week.

Strong singles play powered the Tartans past Irvine (11-7) and Rosary (14-4), with Kate Purpura and Rylee Carlson winning four of five sets each over two matches. The doubles team of Emily Kim and Caitlin Roberts supported the effort with five of six sets won over the two contests.

"It was great to pick up our first two league match wins of the season," said head coach Scott Lipsky. "The team is getting stronger each week and, with only four matches left in the season, we are getting ourselves into a good position for CIF playoffs."

The Tartans will next face Anaheim High School in non-league action on the road on Monday, Oct. 14.
