Tartan Girls Golf Ends Regular Season on High Note

St. Margaret's downed Woodbridge 200-219 on Thursday.
St. Margaret's girls golf program ended the Pacific Coast League season on a high note, defeating the Woodbridge Warriors 200-219 at Rancho San Joaquin in Irvine on Thursday.

Junior Jessica Liu was the day's medalist, with the lowest score on the day for both teams at 36 (E). Sophomore Annie Weng was close behind with a 37 (+1) and notched the second-lowest score of both teams. Freshman Nicole Wang posted a third-best finish for the Tartans, shooting a 41 (+5).

The win moves the Tartans to a 7-4 final regular season record, with a respectable 2-4 Pacific Coast League record. St. Margaret's navigated a challenging league slate, in perhaps the strongest league in CIF Southern Section competition. Thursday's win (the Tartans' second over Woodbridge), preserves St. Margaret's place in the Pacific Coast League for next season.

League preliminary rounds begin on Monday, Oct. 21 at Costa Mesa Country Club where the Tartans have secured 5 of the 48 spots in a bid to make it to the Oct. 22 finals. Tuesday's top finishers will move on to the CIF-SS Individuals.
