Middle School Girls Volleyball Team Wins PAL Championship

The Tartans will hang their fifth championship banner.
The Middle School 8th Grade Girls Volleyball team had a goal from the very first practice; to hang a Parochial League Championship banner in the Campaigne Center gymnasium. The Tartans captured that goal this past Wednesday evening beating St. Edward’s 2-0 in a very high-level championship match.

St. Margaret's looked at each regular season match as a step towards their championship goal, with the team showing that they were willing to put the work in to get better as a team with each practice and game. The Tartans enjoyed an undefeated regular season until a loss to St. Edward's had both teams tied for first place in their league.

The ensuing playoff matchups favored St. Margaret's - win through and play St. Edward’s for the third time to win a banner. The Tartans took care of their first-round playoff opponent, St. Simon & Jude with a 2-0 win. Traditional powerhouse St. Hedwig was up next motivating the Tartans to step up their game. The match with St. Hedwig was close in the beginning but the Tartans widened the gap with in-game adjustments from the coaches that are not always easy to execute, but the team rose to the occasion. With the 2-0 victory, the team achieved what they had hoped for, a rematch with St. Edward’s in the final.

From the very first point in game one the Tartans were not going to be denied. St. Margaret's defense played stellar, having an answer for St. Edwards hits and tips, while the offense moved as a well-oiled machine generating great passes for the setters to make a play that the hitters were able to take advantage of. The team's excitement on the final point was the release of all their hard work and motivation to win a well-earned championship.

Way to Go Tartans!
