Tartan Basketball Programs Battle in Early Season Contests

St. Margaret's has found success on the hardwood.
St. Margaret's girls and boys basketball programs have opened their respective seasons with tournament and non-league action.
 
Girls Basketball
 
The Tartans picked up two tournament wins this week, downing Mark Keppel (46-35) and South Torrance (44-39) in the Brea Olinda Shooutout.
 
St. Margaret's has been led by Annika Tufo and Lila Wohlgemuth, who have averaged 14 and 12.5 points per game, respectively. Tufo and Taylor Francois have both posted double-doubles in the pool play round of the tournament.
 
The Tartans will face Long Beach Poly as the tournament picks back up on Friday, Dec. 6.
 
Boys Basketball
 
St. Margaret's squeezed Orange High 78-49 Tuesday evening in a non-league contest on the road.
 
Botty O'Kane made 7 of 10 three-point attempts en route to a 23-point game for the Tartans while adding 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. O'Kane sunk 5 threes in the 3rd quarter to spark a 20-point St. Margaret's run. Caden Isola contributed 16 points, with Austin Kang and Davin Grover adding 14 points each.
 
The Tartans will next take on Irvine High School at Mission Viejo on Dec. 4.
