Middle School Spelling Bee Spotlights Talented Tartan Spellers
St. Margaret’s Middle School students showcased their stupendous spelling talents this week during the annual Middle School Spelling Bee.
Hurlbut Theater was filled with buzzing excitement as 12 St. Margaret’s Middle School students showcased their stupendous spelling talents this week during the annual Middle School Spelling Bee.
The initial participation of 12 students made its way down to just two, before grade 6 student Emily Ke finally outlasted grade 8 student Gloria Zhou and was crowned champion. Emily spelled her way to victory with the correct spelling of the word “merfolk” after going back and forth for several rounds with Gloria in an entertaining head-to-head contest.
Both Emily and Gloria qualified to take part in the Orange County Regional Spelling Bee - Written Round, on February 26.
In addition to Emily and Gloria, the Spelling Bee featured grade 6 students Ryan Cai, Kiki Chang, Sebastian Weed; grade 7 students Kiran Block, Isabella Huang, Hinnah McGuane, and Eddie Zhang; and grade 8 students Charlotte Coveyou, Mika Kim, and Grace Ma.
Congratulations to all the talented Tartan spellers!
