Boys Tennis and Golf Programs Finding Early Season Success
St. Margaret's picked up key wins this week.
St. Margaret's boys tennis and golf programs notched critical victories on the court and the links as the spring season ramps up.
Boys Tennis
Davin Grover swept all three singles sets as the Tartans dispatched Oxford Academy 10-8 on the road Tuesday. In doubles action, the team of Dawson Mai and Daniel Cai were flawless through three sets to help St. Margaret's bring home the win.
"Yesterday, we had a good team win in tough, windy conditions. I was proud of how the team competed and fought to get the first win of the season," said head coach Scott Lipsky. “We played a challenging non-league schedule so we would be ready for the league matches that start next week."
St. Margaret's returns to the courts on Tuesday, March 19, at 3 p.m., to face league opponent Orange High School at Saddleback College.
Boys Golf
The Tartan boys golf program picked up two league wins this week, defeating Katella High 195-302 on March 12 and Westminster 181-326 on March 14.
Charlie Eifrig led the Tartans against Westminster, shooting an impressive 32 (-4) in the win. Mike He was tenacious for the Tartans, coming in under par, while Brandon Yang stayed even to keep the Tartan squad a single stroke over par with a team score of 181.
With this week's wins, St. Margaret's remains undefeated in league play at 4-0. The Tartans will take on Costa Mesa on Monday, March 18, at Costa Mesa Country Club.
