Summer at St. Margaret’s Brings Fun and Unique Learning Opportunities to Students of All Ages

Summer at St. Margaret’s had something for everyone, from unique programs to athletic camps to academic prep offerings and Upper School for-credit academic courses.
Summer at St. Margaret’s was a whirlwind of excitement and discovery, filled with a diverse range of activities that captivated students of all ages and filled the campus with joy during the summer months.

Here is a look at a few of the many highlights from Summer at St. Margaret’s:

Performing Arts: The Innovation Stage took center stage in early June with Lower School Music Director Zach Hanna, where students dazzled audiences with their acting, singing, and performing talents. It was a standout success, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of young performers.

Outdoor Adventures: The popular stand up paddleboarding (SUP) and beach volleyball (BV) camps with Health and Wellness Coach, Jennifer Cuda, were a major hit, allowing students to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf while honing their skills. Meanwhile, the SoCal Sites took students on exciting explorations to Irvine Regional Park, Wild Rivers and local beaches, offering fun and learning in the great outdoors.

Ocean Excursions: The Ocean Life Adventure Fishing camp with Mrs.Cuda was another highlight, with students experiencing the thrill of the open sea and the joy of fishing. It was a memorable adventure for all involved.

For the Youngest Tartans: The Teddy Bears & Tea Parties camp was a delightful new addition, where young children engaged in playful activities like Teddy Bear Scavenger Hunt, Manners Bingo, Tea Pot Toss, and I’m a Little TeaPot Freeze Dance.

Language and Culture: The new Spanish Immersion camp with kindergarten teachers Gabriela Lopez and Jessica Banks was a full-day program that provided an engaging, immersive experience. Children learned Spanish through art, dance, song, and field trips to local attractions like the beach and hiking trails.

Health and Wellness: The Self-Care camp focused on wellness, where grades 4 through 8 students created bath salts, learned meditation and journaling, made scented room sprays, and explored healthy eating habits. It was a holistic approach to wellness and mindfulness.

Introduction of new camps, and returning favorites: There were additional camps that were new this summer including: “Celebrating Aloha; Summer Fun Hawaiian Style,” “Attitude of Gratitude,” and “Magical Mischief: A Harry Potter Adventure.” Returning favorites like Icky, Sticky Science, Coding and Minecraft and Engineering Challenges continued to engage and inspire students.

Day Camp Highlights: The grade 3-8 day camps were a consistent favorite with teacher David Beshk, and another day camp for kindergarten - grade 2 offered a full summer camp experience with water play, field trips, field games, and more. They provided an immersive summer adventure.

Weekly Treats: Fridays were always a highlight with the TK Burger Truck and visits from Kona Ice Truck, adding extra fun to the summer days.

Academic Enrichment: Upper School students had the opportunity to dive into yearlong Chemistry Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, Biology, Geometry, and Physics, as well as semester-long classes in Health and Human Development and World Religions.

Overall, this Summer at St. Margaret’s was a memorable blend of creative expression, outdoor fun, cultural immersion, and academic growth. Mark your calendars for Summer at St. Margaret’s 2025! The program will start on June 9, 2025 and conclude on July 25.
