St. Margaret’s Student Body Comes Together for All-School Opening Ceremony
St. Margaret’s officially welcomed in a new school year on Monday, as the All-School Opening Ceremony joyfully brought together the entire student body for the first time.
The traditional ceremony was an opportunity to start the school year together, as the Early School’s first day on Monday meant all divisions were back in session at St. Margaret’s.
Monday’s ceremony featured readings, songs and moving remarks by Upper School senior and Associated Student Body President Maddie Lewis, and Head of School Dr. Jeneen Graham.
“I am so grateful to be with you all today. Welcome back Tartans!” Dr. Graham expressed with full enthusiasm. “And, to those of you who are new to our community, welcome to your new home!”
In total, St. Margaret’s has 198 new students, 130 new families, and 42 new students with current St. Margaret’s siblings, and two sets of twins. The school is once again fully enrolled, and Dr. Graham gave special mention to the Class of 2032 in its last year of Lower School, the Class of 2029 in its last year of Middle School, and the Class of 2025 starting its last year at St. Margaret’s in the Upper School.
Dr. Graham also outlined the three school-wide goals for St. Margaret’s this year, aligned with the school’s mission to educate the hearts and minds of young people for lives of learning, leadership and service.
Under learning, celebrate and cultivate the joy of learning, to engage in experiential learning in the classroom and beyond by using play, innovative pedagogy, and cross divisional connections, to inspire joy and purpose for all members of our learning community, in addition to continuing to expand professional development opportunities that enhance the engagement and joy of all learners, adult and student.
Under leadership, to Thrive in 45 and beyond by energizing our entire community to engage with the future of St. Margaret’s through the strategic planning process celebrating 45 years of history through the drafting of our accreditation self-study and pushing forward with the next 45 in mind, as the building of the St. Margaret’s Commons begins, and fulfill the promise of creating a place for all community members to thrive.
Under service, to engage deeply and authentically with our community partners in the spirit of collective flourishing and dignity, to nurture and proclaim our steadfast commitment to the dignity of every human in the spirit of our Episcopal identity, deepeing relationships with service partners. In addition, elevate hosted programs, Breakthrough SJC and Special Camp and their long history of supporting the community.
“I remain inspired and guided by Father Siller’s vision, as we celebrate our 45th year and look forward to what is yet to be for St. Margaret’s Episcopal School,” Dr. Graham said.
