Tartan Girls Golf Battles at CIF-SS Individual Regionals

St. Margaret's advanced a golfer to the SCGA Qualifier on Nov. 7.
St. Margaret's golfers Jessica Liu and Annie Weng joined 111 of the best female players from the CIF Southern Section competing for 24 spots at the Southern California Golf Association Qualification at Los Serranos South in Chino Hills Wednesday.

Facing off against cool temperatures, a long par-74 course and experienced competitors, the Tartans got to work early on the wet and rugged course. Jessica Liu put in a tremendous effort, shooting a 78 (+4) with long, accurate drives. Liu birdied holes 1 and 16 but unfortunately came up short by one stroke and just missed qualification with a 25th-place finish.

Annie Weng had a spectacular day, finishing even with a 74 (+0) and birdies on holes 6, 8, 13 and 17. Weng finished 11th overall and advanced to the SCGA Qualifier on Nov. 7.

Aside from the Individual Qualifier on Nov. 7, the Tartans return to action on Nov. 4 at the CIF-SS Team Divisional Championships as a team.
