Tartan Football Tames Lions 48-0

St. Margaret's wrapped up the league season with a win over Westminster.
St. Margaret's football team closed out the regular season with a one-sided 48-0 win over visiting Westminster High School Friday.
 
Quarterback Kai Letcher (21-29, 277 yds, 3 TDs passing, 15-70, 1 TD rushing) got the ball rolling for the Tartans with a rushing touchdown in the second quarter. St. Margaret's never looked back as they dismantled the Lions with three successive successful onside kick recoveries resulting in scoring drives. Will Viola (6-135 receiving, 3 TDs) had all three scores to put the Tartans up 29-0 at the half.
 
St. Margaret's defense dominated all evening, allowing only 109 total yards by Westminster. Andrew Toubin was a bright spot for the Tartans, recovering two fumbles and hauling in an interception. Nathan Smith added an interception, while Sebastian Salazar led with 7 solo tackles on the night.
 
Rounding out the scoring for the Tartans was Reece Ballard (6-17 rushing, 1 TD) and Sam Ludlum (3-17 receiving, 1 TD) who brought down Jack Kleinhanzl's (1-1 passing, 1 TD) 17-yard touchdown strike in the fourth quarter.
 
The Tartans finish the 2024 campaign with a 4-6 (2-3 in league) record.
