Honoring Heroes: Lower School Hosts Veterans Day Chapel Ceremony

Divisions took time to reflect on the meaning of Veterans Day during Chapel.
St. Margaret’s Lower School recognized Veterans Day on Friday with a ceremony underneath the flagpoles adjacent to the Darcy Rice Center for the Arts.

The Veterans Day ceremony featured remarks by St. Margaret’s chaplain Father James Livingston and Lower School assistant principal Maile Bellosi, music by St. Margaret’s orchestra and a pledge of allegiance led by Lower School student leaders.

Lower School students also conducted a candy drive this week, collecting boxes of candy from the St. Margaret’s community. Each student wrote a letter to a service member and boxes filled with candy will be sent to those serving overseas and to the Long Beach Veterans hospital.

Student leaders invited veterans to the ceremony. A few were in attendance from the Lower school families, the professional community and Veterans of Foreign Wars post 9934 in Dana Point.

St. Margaret’s Middle School also devoted time to Veterans Day during Chapel this week.
