Mr. Kass’ insight on nutrition among school-aged children gave attendees many takeaways on topics around developing good eating habits in children.
The PTF Parent Up Speaker Series with its 2023-2024 theme of “Health and Well-Being” kicked off last week with an engaging presentation by Sam Kass.
Mr. Kass is a former White House chef and senior policy advisor for nutrition, and is the author of Eat a Little Better. The World Economic Forum named him to its 2017 Class of Young Global Leaders who recognize people “pushing boundaries and rethinking the world around them.”
As St. Margaret’s leans into its priority of health and wellness, Mr. Kass’ insight on nutrition among school-aged children gave parent attendees many takeaways on topics around developing good eating habits in children.
He also spoke highly about the Scottie Snack Cart, a Lower School nutrition education program which introduces students to a variety of fruits and vegetables, and the planned St. Margaret’s Commons, a 30,000-square-foot campus centerpiece dedicated to health and well-being.
After speaking to the parents, Mr. Kass also spoke to Upper School students.
The next PTF Parent Up Speaker Series event will feature Shawn Achor, a leading expert on the connection between happiness and success. It will take place February 2 in Hurlbut Theater.
