Momentum Continues to Build for Tartans Thrive: Campaign for a Common Purpose

The school community has been introduced to the Commons and the overall Tartans Thrive campaign in myriad ways this fall.
The launch of Tartans Thrive: Campaign for a Common Purpose in September brought the future of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School into focus, as the school community began to rally around the capital campaign and its centerpiece St. Margaret’s Commons.
 
The school community has been introduced to the Commons and the overall Tartans Thrive campaign in myriad ways this fall:
 
  • The PTF Tartan Family Fun Zone in October provided a sneak peek of some of the features of the St. Margaret’s Commons. Attendees could test out various technologies planned for the facility, including a golf simulator, recovery equipment and performance technologies.
  • The PTF Forever Plaid all-school fundraiser in November included a Fund A Need centered around the St. Margaret’s Commons, with many attendees pledging their support.
  • New renderings of the St. Margaret’s Commons were unveiled in November, giving Tartans a closer look at the beautiful interior spaces planned for the building (See below for a complete gallery of renderings).
 
In addition, the Tartans Thrive campaign sparked ideas for programming and education on campus. As the Commons is designed to be an intentional space to promote community, fitness and well-being, the school has leaned into research around movement, health and community as essential elements of human thriving—and educational opportunities have followed.
 
The Lower School, for example, has expanded its nutrition education program highlighted by a monthly rollout of the Scottie Snack Cart which encourages sampling healthy fruits and vegetables. The first PTF Parent Up Speaker Series of the year, featuring Sam Kass, centered around nutrition for school-aged children. The professional community has also dedicated time to elements of human thriving, including a visit by Tartan alumnus Charles Vogl who shared his expertise on the power of community. Other examples include a Middle School health-and-wellness scavenger hunt, cross-divisional connections in athletics and even science experiments centered around exercise.
 
“We are moved by the tremendous support we have seen toward Tartans Thrive, not only through the generous financial support of our families but also through educational touchpoints and activities that demonstrate the importance of good health and well-being,” Head of School Dr. Jeneen Graham said. “The community commitment to this project has been exciting, and we look forward to building on this momentum together.”
